Purpose
The Australian National University Entrepreneurship Club (ANUEC) is committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all members, participants, and stakeholders. This policy outlines the framework for addressing Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment (SASH) incidents and establishes the SASH Management Committee to uphold the safety and wellbeing of all individuals involved in ANUEC activities.
Guiding Principles
- ANUEC recognises and abides by the principles laid out in the Australian National University’s Sexual Misconduct Policy and the Code of Conduct.
- All Club operations, activities, and interactions (both online and offline) are expected to promote a safe and inclusive working environment free from harassment, discrimination, and misconduct.
- ANUEC is committed to ensuring that all complaints are handled with respect, dignity, and confidentiality, in alignment with applicable University guidelines and Australian laws.
SASH Management Committee
Composition
- The SASH Management Committee shall consist of four members, appointed by the President annually no later than the first week of the first semester.
- To ensure diversity, no single gender shall constitute more than 50% of the committee.
- At least one governance or legal team must be appointed to this commmittee.
- The Chair of the SASH Committee will be chosen by the President from among the four members.
- All committee members must be ANUEC members in good standing and demonstrate a commitment to fostering a safe and respectful environment.
Training Requirements
- All members of the SASH Management Committee must complete mandatory training on:
- First Responder practices,
- Handling sensitive disclosures.
Responsibilities of the SASH Committee
- Oversight:
- Ensure that all ANUEC operations and activities provide a safe and inclusive environment.
- Monitor and evaluate the Club’s practices, policies, and events to ensure they align with SASH principles.
- Recommendations:
- The committee has the authority to recommend that a member be barred from participating in Club activities if their actions have caused harm to others.
- Such recommendations must be reviewed and approved by the Executive Committee to ensure fairness and compliance with the Constitution.
- Support for Members:
- Provide a safe and accessible channel for members to report concerns, incidents, or experiences of harassment or misconduct.
- Offer guidance on accessing additional resources, including counselling, advocacy services, and University support programs.
- Confidentiality:
- All complaints will be handled with the utmost confidentiality.
- Details of a complaint will not be shared outside the 4-person committee, unless:
- A formal request is made by the University or the Students’ Union or relevant authorities, or
- There is a legal obligation to disclose information.
- Complainants will be informed if their information needs to be shared with external parties.
